STRAWBERRY SWITCHBLADE
Strawberry Switchblade
Korova KODE 11
Sugar and spice and songs that aren’t so nice – that’s what Strawberry Switchblade are made of.
The debut album from Rose McDowall and Jill Bryson, a couple of twee lasses who look like refugees from a five-year-old’s birthday party, is as offensively bland as their hit single ‘Since Yesterday’ was annoyingly catchy.
To be fair though, they’ve tried hard to assemble some sort of coherent collection and out of 11 self-penned tracks, ‘Who Knows What Love Is?’ and ‘Go Away’ are half decent.
But when a debut album needs to stamp its own authority on the LP charts, they are not nearly enough and I’m afraid with this record Strawberry Switchblade have had their little fling. Sorry girls, but the party’s over.
