Jill Bryson – Strawberry Switchblade
Full name: Jill Bryson
Date of Birth: February 11, 1961
Place of birth: Glasgow
Family: Mum, Dad, and one sister, Jane, who’s younger than me.
Where do you live? I stay in Muswell Hill, which is a London suburb. I like it because it reminds me of Glasgow so much.
What were you like at school? School? Really ordinary! I didn’t start wearing way-out clothes and odd make-up until I was about 16, and that was when I met Rose. When I was 14, I suddenly became agoraphobic and didn’t go out for about a year, but the punk movement came along, and I became better.
Have you got any hobbies? I love designing and making clothes, which is more a necessity than a hobby nowadays. I really enjoy drawing and painting, but I try to involve them in my clothes designs.
Previous jobs: When I was still at school, I helped out in my mum’s flower shop – I think that was when I really became interested n using flowers as decorations. Then I went to art college for a while.
What’s the strangest gift a fan’s ever given you? Ribbons which had Wombles as decorations on them – they’re great and I wear them a lot.
Who was your childhood hero? I hate to admit it, but it was Donny Osmond!
Do you have any superstitions? When we’re due to play a gig or go to the record company I always give my cats a kiss before I go out. I’ve got three of them.
If your house was on fire, which of your possessions would you be most likely to save? My three cats, my teddy which I’ve had since I was a baby, and my security blanket!
