Jill Bryson’s solo demos after Strawberry Switchblade, 1986/7
After Strawberry Switchblade split up in 1986, Rose and Jill recorded ten solo demos each. Rose’s were belatedly released as the Cut With The Cake Knife album. Jill’s remain unreleased.
Eight of Jill’s demos were co-written with Robin Brown. The other two were written by Jill alone while still in Strawberry Switchblade. Nothing Changes was previously recorded for an April 1985 BBC John Peel session, and Dark 7 was demoed towards the end of the band.
In 2013, Jill formed The Shapists with her daughter Jessie, and Craig Hood. They released eight tracks on Bandcamp in 2013 and 2014, including a versions of Trees and Flowers, as well as Dust Index and Daddy I’ll Drown, two songs from these demos of Jill’s from immediately after Strawberry Switchblade.
