Four stabs at pop glory?
The Strawberry gals come up with a new ‘un in the best traditions of the Sixties follow-up; you had a hit, so don’t f*** with the formula! The nursery-rhyme Spector style is still pleasing, but on first listen doesn’t go for the jugular as smoothly as their last effort.
Terraplane are one of the few UK challenges to the USA dominance of pop-metal, but the office expert cries ‘Huey Lewis rip-off!; what’s wrong with that, I say?
King – well, everything’s wrong with them, from the Dayglo Docs to the greasy hair. Awful music too – as if that mattered.
Slade stray a tad – only a tad, mind – from their Big Country cops to unleash a barrage of forced jollity. If only they had the cash to retire….
